Music: American Idol

Exhibit A: Obama Logo. This design helped to forge the double-entendre of “the Big O,” which originally referred to my beloved Roy Orbison but now apparently only refers to that Sexual Being the President. In addition to being a ring, perfect circle, symbol of wholeness and completeness as well as any sundry erogenous zones, the stripes resemble the stripes of a flag, the furrows of freshly tilled land (something’s about to sprout), and so forth. A fecund logo, to be sure.

Exhibit B: New Pepsi Logo.

this inspired me to check wikipedia for old Pepsi slogans that might fit the new presidency. There were a few good ones, but my favorite was the 1950 Pepsi slogan:

“More Bounce to the Ounce”

The next best would probably be 1984′s “The Choice of a New Generation”

Savvy branding by team Obama, but I rather prefered the yin-yangish Pepsi logo myself. And hey, what out the well-branded Target logo? Add your own “hit the spot” joke.

I went to the mall with my partner the other day and saw that Guess is spoofing/appropriating the Obama logo for their current sale. They put a “G” in the place of the “O.” It’s a pretty small component of the storefront signage, so I had to stop and stare in order to see they hadn’t just borrowed the O-logo wholesale.
