Hmmm… the condemnation of “tone” and “style” arises yet again. The counter-critiques of “Disciplining the Feminine” seems relevant here, for anything that would dare challenge or criticize the form and tacit privilege of status quo systems. The argument continues, but Josh and DH make a good point sofar as intent goes.

Besides, by these same rationales of OA, one might similarly condemn The Onion or The Daily Show for not running for “serious” office or seeking to change corporate journalistic infotainment “from the inside” rather than snark from the sidelines. I suppose being tasteless is a greater sin than self-righteous indifference to the revocation of basic human/civil rights in this age of Gitmo (which was kinda the irreverant ‘point’ of the bawdy exercise). Still, I *have* and *do* volunteer for NCA duties and offices, thank you very much. My UNconvention experience was far different, and much more positive, which may speak volumes about differences in circles, clicks, and status.

Feh… cest la vie. If we couldn’t laugh at the ridiculousness of it all, my own included, then we couldn’t respond to a lot of life.

Eh, those coming from Oratorical Animal's website and condemnation need to read this before you project a bunch o' stuff on us that we don't believe. There is a difference between NCA national office politics and the hard working people who make the conference go.

LOVE IT! Is it too late to change a couple of typo-like things?
It’s a long time since my graduate seminar at Iowa called “‘I’” Survived Identity Politics,” but
I think Womyn is plural–Womon would be the singular. (You can quote that in the article if you like, including the double quotes around “I”–or put a Lacanian X over it or something.

Where did you get that picture of me? I suspect Clariza Ruiz.

I think you mean that NCA “gouges” us not “guages” us (thought surely it does that too).

I so missed the sparkle submission deadline. But I thought of many mock job calls on plane ride out to California today. I am looking forward to reading the first issue! You know, I am a firm believer that brilliance is often written on a cocktail napkin…after many drinks…
…and sometimes its just a bunch of drunken scribble.
Here is to sparkle becoming the former!
